FIFA says they don’t rule over governments, but let’s not forget about how they stripped Indonesia’s hosting rights for the 2023 U-20 World Cup because the provincial governor of Bali requested (did not enforce) that Israel not be allowed to compete in Bali due to their treatment of Palestinians. FIFA has power when they want to use it.
