INCREDIBLE update from UBC alum Joanne Green in our IG comments: “Telereg surviver [sic] here🙋🏼♀️Somehow we discovered that pay phones worked way better at getting through than our home landlines so we'd go to Richmond Centre Mall or Landsdowne Mall, with pockets full of quarters, and call from the mall. Very veryyyy stressful.”

That being said, my FIL told one of his professors that he didn’t know what to do after graduation, and his professor called him half an hour later to inform him he was registered in a masters program.

phone registration was brutal at SFU. The lines opened at 5am. you got 20 minutes to do everything, so if you missed the first window, you likely couldn't get in till 520.. 540 etc. I wrote an auto dialer for my modem to do the dialing. Everyone was complaining about it and someone from Ontario says "is great for me, I was able to register at 8am" - I still remember the yells of "that makes #$@&! sense from the crowd"

I did. I registered over the phone using the huge course catalog and having to figure out hand written multiple timetables in case I couldn’t get the section I wanted

I started at UBC in 1993 so I dealt with TELEREG. I don't remember it being too bad, I had a fairly high admission average so I got to register earlier than others. In my first year I structured my class schedule so my Tuesdays and Thursdays were mostly empty.
