Take a 16 hour Basic Riding Course and all the things that most commonly happen by statistics, muscle memory, quick stop, ready position, all these and more will make you a good rider. I stopped riding for 30 years and still many things I wasn't away of after 5 years riding on the road, plus 3 years off road.
