You can definitely recline it without it being latched probably would make it easier😆 but I only learned up until my third that the latch has a weight limit. I’m pretty sure it’s around 30 pounds but definitely check because I had no clue with my first two.

the best thing to do would reach out to your local fire department. they should have a car seat technician and they can inspect how you installed the seat and to make sure everything was done properly!

Parent hack: You can always take your car seat to a fire station and they can help install and tighten correctly

I’d definitely switch to the seatbelt vs the latch. regardless of what the car seat manual says, every car has its own restrictions too & the latch limit is the car seat & child combined. We switch my son at 4m because he’s so long & he has LOVED the car seat over the infant carrier. He can see out the windows so much better than he could in the carrier. Also, make sure to adjust the hip/lap strap positions & crotch buckle so they aren’t too tight & restricting. I know that my graco seat has you adjust them for sure when they’re going to forward facing, but my son is 99% so we had to adjust them for him

This car seat is AMAZING I’ve used it for my baby since he was born and he was only 6 pounds 10 oz and now he is 20 pounds and 10 oz and it’s till holding strong!!!

A little slack is okay with infant car seats! It’s actually supposed to be that way for their spine in an accident.

the first time my son rode in the car after we switched car seats he spit up all over himself. We had to take apart the entire car seat
