When things went wrong, she was the first voice I heard. Calm. Steady. Present. I never once thought about a world where she wasn't okay. Then the diagnosis came. Glioblastoma. A rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. A word that doesn't belong in the same sentence as her name. Everything changed in a single moment. The house feels different now. The silence feels heavier. And I find myself looking at her and memorizing things. The way she laughs. The way she holds her coffee cup. The way she still tries to take care of everyone else even when she's the one who needs taking care of. That's who she is. That's who she's always been. She is not just my mom. She is the center of our family. The person every single one of us leans on without even realizing it. And now she is leaning on us, and we refuse to let her fall. The road ahead is long and uncertain. There are treatments, decisions, days where hope feels very far away.
