It literally gives me a rush to tell a kid "no" and watching their brains actually rewire to come to a different solution to what they want that will work for both of us.

my director told me and the rest of the staff that we “couldn’t tell her kid the word no because it was triggering for him” i made it a mission to tell him no at least 5x a day

I love making them to explain why I should let them. It helps them articulate their thoughts and think more beyond “because I want it” and then I’ll give them an explanation of why I’m not giving it to them

“He’s such a sweet kid! As long as you don’t say, ‘no’ he’s fine!! He just hates that word. We like to tell him, ‘Here’s a better idea, bestie!’ He loves it when you call him your bestie!!” 😳

Made my nephew watch his twin go play in the play place in McDonald’s today because everytime we go get food with him we get exactly what he asked for and then he won’t eat it. I told him 13 times to eat his burger, he tells me no everytime. I put him in the corner and then made him watch his brother play.

as someone who really wasn’t parented because my mom was working all the time and also just isn’t the most situationally aware, I always appreciated other parents in the neighborhood treating me like their own- meaning they would also tell me no and redirect me and correct me on my stuff I needed that. So I will always be that mom. I don’t care if it silently offends parents, I’m not gonna touch your kid obviously- but I will correct them. 🤷🏼♀️

My 1 1/2 year old has started throwing tantrums and such and I legitimately looked at my husband and said “idk why he acts like he gets ‘only child’ treatment bc he sure as hell don’t even though he is currently and only child” — I’ve always been serious about discipline, respect and manners- it’s how I was raised and my children will absolutely be raised the same.
