Come along with Libby and me as we take a little day trip from our cabin in the North Georgia mountains down to Dahlonega, Georgia! It was a beautiful Thursday with sunshine, blue skies, and temperatures in the 90s. We took the scenic route through Blairsville, winding through the mountains before passing Lake Zwerner and the University of North Georgia on our way into town. Downtown Dahlonega absolutely lived up to the hype. The historic Lumpkin County Courthouse sits right in the middle of the square, surrounded by beautifully restored buildings, unique shops, restaurants, and plenty of people enjoying the day. It’s one of the most walkable and charming downtowns I’ve visited in a long time—almost like stepping into a storybook. For lunch, I stopped at 19 North and scored a table on the upstairs balcony overlooking the square. A side salad with homemade ranch and blue cheese dressing, followed by a perfectly cooked cheeseburger and seasoned fries, made for a pretty great lunch with a view. Special shout-out to Jake at 19 North for keeping the sweet tea flowing today. He provided excellent service, was incredibly friendly, and never let my glass get empty. Now, he may have only had one table at that point in the afternoon, but I’m going to pretend I was just that important. 😂 Thanks for the great service, Jake! Poor Libby had to wait in the car while Dad ate, but she had the radio, her toys, and a big bowl of water, so she survived the ordeal. 😂 After a little more exploring, we topped off the gas tank and headed back north to the cabin. As soon as we got home, Libby climbed onto the sofa and declared the rest of the afternoon nap time. If you’re visiting North Georgia and haven’t been to Dahlonega yet, add it to your list.
