if you go to a pool supply store they have some silicone sheets that are a lot more flexible and with a bit more stretch. though idk how much they cost bc it was like 6 years since I had a pool.

Same style but using clear plastic straws as a base. them feeding one into another and standing the straws to add the hot glue. You could also trim and bend them before adding the hot glue, to keep them fixed
