I'll explain this one more in-depth: In January of 1982 a sardinian girl called Jessica was in hospital and was given about 24 hours to live. A drug in Germany was being tested for her condition and was requested by doctors in Sardinia. The doctor then asked a military official in Sardinia if there was a way to get it in time. The Military Officer called his superiors in Germany and they started an entire operation to save the girl. At the time a major Blizzard was all over Germany making take-offs extremely hazardous. The Germans got the experimental drug by getting the scientist who was experimenting with it out of an opera (this was on a friday evening) to drive him to his companies hq to trt the drug. They then brought it to an airbase where the Luftwaffe pilot started his F-104 on an icy runway and took off. He flew over Austria and over Italy and landed in Sardinia at about 3AM while the airport there was caught in a heavy storm. The airport had lost power to their lights and a military captain of italy got townsfolk and people with cars together to light the runway so the Starfighter could see the runway. The drug was given to the doctor at the airport and it was given to the girl. Nobody asked how much it costs or if they were allowed to do it, they just did it.
