Yall need to look up the damage caused by the EF3 Downtown Fort Worth tornado. March 13, 2000. Tornados CAN hit large cities.

I hate to break this to the commenters but tornadoes can absolutely hit the city 💀😂 they just haven’t, yet. There’s not really a rhyme or reason for where they touch down/don’t touch down other than the right weather conditions that happen everywhere in the Midwest. You just hear about it hitting farms/rural areas because that covers significantly more land area than cities do in the regions that regularly see tornado weather

Tornado or not you do NOT want to mess with high speed wind in those tall buildings with lots of windows 😭

I have to commend you for actually following the warning, too many people don’t take weather safety seriously

The reason why tornadoes usually never hit cities is because humans naturally develop in the most suitable areas for living. You cant really develop a city if there are multiple tornadoes a year that demolish anything big.

It’s really easy to get complacent about weather when you live in the Midwest. But we shouldn’t. And we shouldn’t pretend like tornados ignore cities either. Because they don’t.

The fire alarm went off at Walmart two days ago and I was literally the only one walking to the front. Several people were walking to the BACK

High rises are typically safer than houses or small apartment complexes due to better construction materials, increased factors of safety and specifically designed for strong winds. You still did the right thing tho imo

I grew up in the Chicago area and every time there was a tornado watch or warning I was in the basement without hesitation. Every single time. I don't give a damn if there weren't many touchdowns near me.
