if I order standing i dont tip. IM A SERVER who lives off tips. I would never not tip a person serving me. but even the oil change place near me ask for a tip when I pay for my oil change. 🤦♀️

as a greek living in a tourist country, meaning we are a very welcoming country with very good service towards tourists and guests, we don't demand tips, and actually are surprised if a tip is more than 1 or 2 euros. this mandatory tipping is absolutely insane

Under UK law, employers cannot use tips, gratuities, or service charges to make up or top up an employee's pay to meet the National Minimum Wage. All tips must be paid in full on top of an employee's regular contracted wage.

The reason for tipping should never be “because they make the bare minimum wage”. Because that’s the restaurant owner being awful to human beings and should pay their staff proper wages. But to your question. No. The restaurant should tip YOU 20-30% for doing all the work. So the same argument, they underpay their staff, and they’re taking advantage of customers to do the work a.k.a. work for free. its lazy customer service and its greed at the top.
