Feeling like the last unicorn idk
big AI companies are buying up the last physical copies of books and shredding them to train their models. People are starting to notice, and I think it's worth talking about. EcoGPT is built on a pretty simple idea. You should be able to use AI without feeling like you're part of the problem. That's the whole mission. It runs on efficient open source models that need far fewer active parameters than the big providers, and the hosting runs on Google Cloud in a region that reports 98% carbon free energy. The company is a public benefit corporation, which means it's legally set up to care about more than just profit. The real number that matters is this. EcoGPT has planted 163,386 real trees through verified reforestation nonprofits, mostly Trees for the Future and One Tree Planted. That's actual trees in the ground, confirmed by the partners, not a credit or a promise. I made this video because I was reading about how some AI companies are treating physical books and it just didn't sit right with me. It's one of those things where you hear it and you go, wait, what. But I don't think the answer is to swear off AI completely. That's not realistic for most of us. I think the answer is being more careful about which AI you support. So if you're already using AI every day, you might as well look at where your money and your prompts are going.
