On 11 December 1993, Block 1 of Highland Towers collapsed after a landslide hit its foundation. What followed was one of the largest rescue operations in Malaysian history, involving more than 500 rescuers and international teams working around the clock to search for survivors. Among the first people pulled from the rubble was an 18-month-old baby girl. The tragedy claimed 48 lives and forever changed the way Malaysia approaches hillside development, building safety, and disaster response.
