My theory is that jar-ing people is of similar ritualistic origins to rya’s birth and the godskins. Volcano manor has jar associations with it being part of alexander and dialos’ questline. the god skins are also associated with the celebrant village, which is vaguely similar to the bonny village with their flaying weapons and such. Could be why the lands between are very anti-snake?

I like to think it means that the great serpent came from the shadow lands. That would explain why snakes are taboo in the lands between.
