Facilitate travel:  Speed up border checks by using biometric verification (fingerprints and facial images) and automated border gates. Who It Applies To Non-EU nationals (both visa-required and visa-exempt) entering the Schengen Area for a short stay (up to 90 days in any 180-day period). EU citizens and residents are not affected by the system. Challenges Technical integration and coordination across all Schengen states. Privacy and data protection concerns under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
