Speaking on Good Morning Britain ahead of Remembrance Sunday 2025, 100-year-old Royal Navy veteran Alec Penstone shared his message to the country. Penstone expressed his sadness at the state of modern Britain, arguing that many of the freedoms British servicemen fought to protect have gradually been eroded. Having served during the Second World War, inclduyign at D-Day, he reflected on the sacrifices made by his generation and questioned whether the country today reflects what they fought for. Sadly, Alec Penstone died recently, on 28 May 2026, aged 101. His comments have resurfaced amid wider national debates about the direction of modern Britain, following events such as the tragic murder of 18-year-old student Henry Nowak and broader discussions around crime, freedom of expression and public safety.
