My therapist once told me that he was on some trip and when I asked where he went he said he would rather not say. I was like okay??? Why would u tell me that info in first place???

I’m a therapist and I’ve also been in therapy. Self disclosure helps to build the trust when appropriate. My therapist has opened up about her relationship experiences bc it has helped me to feel less alone in my experiences. Because one of the main reasons I’m in therapy is to process trauma related to love and dating.

My therapist had a whole map with like the happy lake and Sadness sea and friendship house and things like that and she asked “where do u see yourself in a couple months” I Said the happy lake and she was “why are u not happy rn” why tf do u think im in therapy

The therapist I had to see just seemed to try to poke holes in everything I said and then she would do the little trick where she’d just look at me without saying anything to try to get me to talk lol
