The Dead Internet Theory is a theory that says much of the internet is no longer made or controlled by real people, but instead by bots, AI, and automated systems. According to the theory, many posts, comments, websites, and social media accounts that seem human are actually generated automatically.
People started talking about this theory because the internet sometimes feels less personal than it used to. They notice things like spam accounts, repetitive comments, AI-generated images, AI-written articles, and websites that seem designed only to get clicks. Because of this, some people believe a large part of online activity is fake.
However, the theory goes much further than the evidence. While bots and AI definitely exist and are common online, there is no proof that most of the internet is fake or that real people have been replaced. Billions of real people still use the internet every day to talk, play games, watch videos, learn, and share their lives.
So, the Dead Internet Theory is basically the idea that the internet is becoming increasingly filled with artificial activity instead of human activity, but the extreme version of the theory is not supported by evidence.
