@saysdotcom: A food security expert has suggested that Malaysians may need to cut down on chicken consumption. According to UPM's Professor Dr Anjas Asmara, Malaysia ranks third in the world for chicken consumption, with Malaysians eating about 49kg of chicken per person every year. He said chicken has become a staple because it is affordable and easily available, with many Malaysians having it multiple times a day. However, eating chicken just once a day instead of for all three meals could help ease demand and reduce pressure on prices. The expert also warned that Malaysia’s poultry industry is heavily dependent on imported grain corn for chicken feed, making it vulnerable to global supply disruptions.
