Oh my god!! I KNEW I WAS RIGHT. the estate agent (when they came back to negotiate and I said my best offer was given) asked me how much mine had sold for and “what percentage I was planning to put down”. I asked if either of them were needed. He seemed shocked and said well it’s all about getting it “moved on quicker” for the memorandum of sale. I advised my offer hasn’t even been accepted so why would I share information.

Isn’t it a surveyors job to make sure people are not paying over the odds? I personally am and estate agent and ask for an email from the broker to confirm the buyer can afford the offer, as I don’t like the sensitive information but for most big agents asking for that information is standard practice.

We made a principal for exactly the amount we offered. And only provided once the offer was accepted.

Annoyingly ours got it out of us because they said they could recommend other properties if this current one didn’t fit our needs… damn!

The fact that you received this much hate is terrifying for first time buyers. How can I have confidence that I’m not getting shafted by an EA. Not even a little bit of money we’re talking about, it’s usually 15-20k

We weren’t allowed to view a property to our property not being for sale , they wouldn’t even let me state that our property was mortgage free and if they had asked we had funds to purchase the one we wanted outright without a sale .. well sorry you just lost a sale 😁
