growing up my mom told me I wasn't allowed to work at McDonald's because she didn't want her daughter flipping burgers for the rest of her life, I lost my job because it closed down and I'm working McDonald's so I don't lose my apartment and she said "I'm proud of you for doing what you need to do to make ends meet"

I never got why it was an insult in the first place. A job is a job. Ss long as it brings in the wages, pays the bills then what's wrong with it! Better than being on The dole. When I worked there the staff was all kids working their way through college or people like me that had to work around school hours and a Mac job was the only one at the time offering it 🤷♀️

I don’t understand why people diss fast food jobs. If no one worked those jobs you wouldn’t get your favorite fast food. I have a lot of respect for fast food workers because of the bs from customers they have to put up with.

The job market and pay is such bullshit McDonald’s where I live is $14 an hour or you can go work somewhere like Walmart, Kroger, retails, a receptionist job for literally the same pay. I was making $14 an hour at Walmart doing the grocery pickup walking 20k steps a day being pushed to go faster and faster or I could just go to McDonald’s and stand and make some burgers and fries for the same pay

I also find it incredibly classist when people used it as an insult because sometimes “low level” jobs can be the best. I really loved working at Tesco for example. Meeting colleagues, customers, etc. it was a lovely vibe, though I did leave in the end due to management issues and to pursue a degree apprenticeship. Though now I have cancer and I can’t work at all, as I look back it’s not the time spent sat in an office I miss, it was the fun times I had working on the shop floor with iconic people. There’s nothing wrong with being happy in the job you have - you don’t always have to aggressively “climb the ladder”. ❤️

I work at McDonald's. My friend literally got rejected from there. FOR THE CLEANING JOB. I'm cackling maniacally over it. I got my job at McDonald's THROUGH A FRIEND literally, the application process itself was half the thing, it was bc I had a friend in the workplace.
