There are lots of other road works going on in Croydon at the moment - most of which have nothing going on with no sign of any workmen on site.

There are laws in place that means that sometimes tm is required for work to be done. Get a grip and let people get on with their work. What if they have diggers/ plant equipment ? And maybe it isn’t just for a parking space but to create a safety zone between the workers and the traffic ?

Nope, the footway will be getting reduced down to less than a meter so a full chapter 8 set up and walk way will be required for pedestrians, push chairs, wheel chairs etc. impossible to put a walk way out there without risking someone being run over. BTW your local council ok’s all of this before hand having completed a risk assessment so no, it isn’t just there to annoy you.
