This happened to my friend years ago when we were flying to Holland. He had a British travel document, and airline staff stopped him and said he couldn’t travel without a visa because he didn’t have a full passport. But the rule depends on the type of travel document. If you have a 1951 Geneva Convention travel document, you can travel to the EU without needing a visa. If it’s a humanitarian travel document, the rules can be different. I challenged them at the time, and after checking, they finally allowed my friend to board. What surprises me is that this happened around 17 years ago, and people are still facing the same confusion today. It seems some airport or airline staff still don’t fully understand the difference between travel documents.
