@various.archives: In 2017, Stella McCartney told CBS Sunday Morning that her upbringing gave her the freedom to never compromise. Raised vegetarian on an organic farm in the English countryside by Paul and Linda McCartney, touring the world with her parents as a child, she says she always knew that if everything went horribly wrong, she could fall back on a loving, unconditional family unit. That security became a buffer. It meant she could bring her ethics into her workplace without flinching. She has a set of standards and rules she lives her life by, she says, and she saw no reason to leave them at the door. She grew up conscious of the seasons, the link between nature and humans, how we all live on this planet together. She connected those dots. She built one of the only major fashion houses in the world that uses no leather, no fur, no skins, no feathers. The industry said it couldn't be done. She did it anyway.
