If the valuation for the SpaceX IPO is rocket sky high with the company making deep losses as of recent financial statements, then public retail investors are just speculating on the future of the company by buying into their IPO now. Because, it would need to take enormous efforts to turn from loss making to making significant profits to make good the rocket sky high valuation retail investors are paying now. Comparatively, there are already established trillion dollars US big names like Apple, Microsoft and a few others that are already making good profits for many years and still growing their businesses. These could be bought at lower valuations as compared to SpaceX, which is more speculation than having a proven track record currently.
