@mindthegut_uk: 18 months ago I wasn't doing yoga. I couldn't lie horizontal before 10pm as I was always, always trying to digest. I couldn't do anything rigorous as I was in calorie deficit and underweight. I was drowning in the all consuming world of elimination diets, endoscopies, specialists who shrugged. I was exhausted, uncomfortable, anxious, and starting to lose hope that I'd ever feel normal again. Nobody tells you how isolating chronic illness is. How you can look completely fine on the outside while your body is quietly, invisibly, falling apart. But something shifted when I stopped fighting my body and started listening to it. Slowing down. Breathwork. Yoga. Cutting stress at the root, not just managing symptoms and obsessing over my diet. The gut and the nervous system are more connected than most people realise. When one is in chaos, so is the other. Healing one means healing both. I'm not completely healed, I live with Functional Dyspepsia. But I am so, so much better than I was. I go long stretches feeling pretty good. I can move my body. I can eat. If you're in the thick of it right now - the appointments, the elimination diets, the 3am spirals - please hear this: Your body is not broken. Keep going. It gets better than this. 🧠🌱🧘🏼♀️ #gastritis #functionalgutdisorders #ibd
