One of the most common questions I get as a midwife is: when should I take a pregnancy test???Closely followed by can I get a positive pregnancy test at 8DPO? The truth is that many women take an early pregnancy test during the two-week wait, get a negative result, and immediately assume they’re out for the month. That’s often not the case. I talk about how implantation timing affects pregnancy test results, when hCG starts being produced, why an 8DPO negative pregnancy test doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not pregnant, and why so many women get a positive test days after convincing themselves they’re out of the cycle.
