Use graphite gaskets. Those metal gaskets are bs and used by manufactures so that the engine dies eventually.

Been using fire-rings for 50 years , it is preferred to fire-ring the the heads , if you burn through a ring — Yes, it happens, far cheaper to replace a head over the block .
