Your core IS your foundation. The better your core works, the better you’ll feel, the better you’ll move, and you’ll be able to do more of what you love. Ideally, the core transfers power from each hip evenly to the upper body. A balanced core means both sides of your core muscles can do their jobs. An imbalanced core means one side of your core works better or does a better job transferring power than the other side. When your core muscles are imbalanced, ANY other body area will pay the price: 1. Back pain can come from a core imbalance due to the lower back being caught in a muscular tug of war. 2. Foot, hip, or knee pain can develop due to the lack of balance, support, and stability from the core, causing compensatory motion in the leg. For example, the pelvis hiking up, twisting, or tilting forward/backward, altering motion in the leg. 3. The upper body can shift over to the side or collapse and round forward, causing the shoulders to have irregular motion leading to tension and restriction. You get the idea… What I love about this exercise is that you’ll be able to feel how the right side of your core works with your right hip and how the left side of your core works with your left hip. Give this simple but not easy clamshell variation a try, and let me know in the comments how it went! Some questions to prompt your feedback: 1. Did your right side feel stronger, more ‘connected’, or better than the left? 2. What do you think that has to do with how you currently move and feel? 3. Is this the first time you’ve felt how well your core works with each hip? If you found this exercise valuable, add this to your daily routines or workouts. If you are looking for more exercises and a program to follow that improves how you move and feel, click the link in my bio and check out my online course, The Movement Program! #C#Corec#corestrengthc#corebalanceh#hipsp#powerf#fitm#muscles#strengthm#movementtherapy #fyp #foryoupage
