there is absolutely no evidence that gdl appeared in novogrudok hypatian codex and teutonic chronicles never mentioned novogrudok as capital or mindaugas residence and also vytautas heard about mindaugas he wrote some stories about mindaugas and he mentioned that mindaugas builded cathedral in neris/vilija river but not in novogrudok not even papal letters mentioned anything about novogrudok all though gediminas letter mentioned novogrudok but it did not mentioned any role/center in novogrudok so the idea that gdl started in novogrudok is myth/fiction from litvinistic theories and 16th century chronicles and also it cannot be archeologically proven that novogrudok was center of gdl in 13th century although it wasoimportant places for gdl but it did not remained as capital and was not the most important and it was ruled by vaišvilkas who held less power and role than mindaugas
