@Marcy Lane | Mystery Author: I do iterative beta-reads. I have my core group of 2 who read it first and give me unvarnished/harsh opinions. I try to resolve their issues, and then send it to the next round, usually one at a time. Rinse and repeat until I’m satisfied. Maximum beta-rounds so far is six, with seven readers.
