Many things God calls us to do will face resistance, but resistance is not the measure of whether we are in God’s will. Scripture shows that obedience often brings opposition, but it also shows seasons of peace, favor, and open doors. The presence of resistance does not automatically mean we are doing the right thing, and the absence of resistance does not automatically mean we are doing the wrong thing. What matters is not whether circumstances are difficult or easy, but whether we are faithfully following God. Not every obstacle comes from the enemy. Sometimes obstacles are God’s protection. Not every open door comes from God. Sometimes open doors are temptations. This is why we need discernment rather than using resistance as our guide. The better question is not, “Am I facing resistance?” but “Am I walking in obedience to God?” God’s Word, His character, and the leading of the Holy Spirit are more reliable guides than the amount of opposition we experience.
