Big things are happening in Kansas and young people are at the heart of it! It’s time the country starts talking about it! The Kansas State House, beholden to the Republican Supermajority, has worked to pass far right legislation that NO ONE asked for. From SB 254 that tried to stop undocumented students from receiving in state tuition and accessing higher education to SB 244 that banned trans Kansas from receiving a driver’s license or using the restroom that aligns with their gender identity, the futures of young people, especially marginalized young people, in Kansas are at stake. But we aren’t having it. We are stepping up to demand better and have the representation we deserve! Meet Taylor Moreland! She’s running for Kansas House District 7! In college, Taylor studied Psychology with an emphasis on Legal Issues and Public Policy. Her education focused on understanding the root causes of crime and developing innovative approaches to crime prevention because she “believes government works best when it combines compassion, common sense, and accountability.” She founded a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing civic engagement while assisting victims of domestic violence, supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, and helping prevent substance abuse while supporting recovery efforts. Today, she’s work in a foster care group home for boys, where she witnesses firsthand both the resilience of young people and the challenges facing Kansas families. Experiences like these have shown her how often our systems fail the very people they are intended to help. Taylor would make history as not only the first woman, but the first Black woman to represent her district ❤️ Help support Taylor by following her Facebook and spreading the message, checking out her website, or making a donation today so we can get more diverse and young representation in our State House!
