President Bola Tinubu has declared that his administration will show “no mercy” to violent criminals, stating that the recent abductions of school children have dampened Nigeria’s 2026 Democracy Day. Suspected terrorists separately invaded four schools across Borno and Oyo states, kidnapping students & teachers. As the captives remain in abductor custody, President Tinubu used his national address to signal a tough stance on insecurity. “Though this year’s mood is dampened by the abduction of our children in Oyo and Borno, we remain hopeful for their safe return. Democracy without security is not solid enough,” the President stated. The President made it clear: democracy cannot stand without security. The window for criminals to surrender is officially closing.
