@growwithkaela: DAs do feel remorse for hurting you, unlike narcissists. But they’re not spending time thinking about your pain and your experiences. No no… they are spending their time wondering why they are so bad at relationships. You’re stuck with the wound they cause while they’re trying to figure out the wounding that caused them to hurt you. When that reflection becomes too painful, they rinse and repeat. ❤️🩹
To say you never get what you want from each other... A bit of a generalisation. They can and do. First hand, as a DA myself and in my experience as a therapist. Otherwise excellent video. Well explained. Let's maybe allow for a bit of movement rather than saying never?

Yep. I always say his pain is “bigger and more important” than mine (to him)

Yes, his need, his pain, his challenges, his agenda, his life, his experience, his knowledge ALWAYS took a higher position. So sad, as beneath that, the inner person was decent. He wanted to be decent but self obsession ruined that.

I disagree. My wife doesn't worry about how she is at fault at all.

My husband never talks about it so o can only guess, but I do think he feels badly. It’s what has kept me around this long. But feeling badly about it hasn’t really changed anything.

So true, speaking from experience. It takes time but we can learn and grow to help ourselves away from this attachment pattern.
