@hannaallelign: I loved #backrooms & #thedrama but wished they had more nuance with their Black protagonists. #isgodis was perfection though 🤌🏾 #horror #filmanalysis
I think in terms of the backrooms Clark’s blackness is irrelevant. He’s supposed to be a bad person and that’s what he is. He is an abusive husband, and exploring his blackness doesn’t justify it. I kinda like the fact that he can be angry, to me as a black person it didn’t feel stereotypical just an irrational dude who’s trapped inside his own head too much. Similar to that of bojack horseman. I feel like if we as black people are able to see ourselves in media in diverse roles outside of trauma p0rn we will also be more accepting to those of mental disorders and neurodivergent people within our community.

How would you have change the Backrooms to fit Clark's character then?

it's a film about the backrooms it's not about race there are plenty of horror films that discuss race but this isn't one of those films

tbh i didn’t think either characters as rage full, i also don’t think that’s how these characters were framed either. they were both framed as sad and broken people that eventually regretted their decision, one when it was too late and the other before it got to a terrible point

The colour literally doesn't matter, usually scripts or at least storyboards are made before the casting therefore nobody's race matters in movies 90% of the time. Also why are you thinking about race in a movie about the backrooms this is the most chronically online I've ever seen 😭
