@hayyyfarms: Throwback to a few years ago, when I accidentally enraged the entire pumpkin seed army… 🎃😅 #homestead #farm #farmtok #goatsoftiktok #livestock
This! Holistic treatments are great in idea form, but nowhere has accurate dosages or even field studies to back them up, so how do you know it’s actually working? Now I’m a person who will step down if proof can be presented. But I’ll stick to the remedies that have years of research and positive results that improve the health of my animal in a reliable way.

Istg they could literally make a medication that's just like "we pulled all of the special stuff out of this one natural thing!" and people would still go "EWWW CHEMICALS"

Pumpkin seeds? What about those are helping? I’d assume feeding like herbs, vitamin supplements, actual medicine

im a big fan of using holistic things IN ADDITION to medicine. and PSA if you use holistic supplements and you take medications ALWAYS check with your doctor because some can mess with your meds

Pumpkin seeds are delicious to the animals. I throw pumpkins in there. It’s preventative care (like a healthy diet and exercise), not treatment. People don’t understand that. But I have a small enough farm that I don’t do routine dewormer, I only dose when there’s a parasite overload. It’s a very labor intensive method though.

wild garlic is a good dewormer for some animals, does this include rabbits or nah?

there's a reason why we can't proclaim "all natural" when raising our beef because we will use medicines when needed. We do preventive measures, doctor them when sick and never send them off if they are sick.

I mean, if the animals enjoy the pumpkin and one or two loses some worms? That’s a win. But if one or two have worms, they all got worms. So everybody’s getting some worm poison 🤣

If herbalism worked so damn well then modern medicine wouldn’t have been called a miracle when it was invented

I give our pigs pumpkin after halloween as a way for the pumpkins to just...not be thrown in the garbage. And the pigs love it. I don't care about anything else other than that.

I use actual dewormer for all my animals, but I also feed things that are known to help naturally deworm, just as an extra level of preventative, I just mix it into their food every once in a while

Apparently pine/spruce is a natural dewormer for goats, but when I was raising goats they still got actual dewormer in addition to the tree snacks 🤣🤣

Wait. Are they really arguing about the validity of "pumpkin seeds" as a rabbit dewormer, or is this symbolic of the evolution v. creation debate?? OR, is it an expose' of the frailty of human thought in general?? 😩😩😩 . 🤔

I use a natural dewormer from fiasco farms, works great on goats, over 12 years i only had to get dewormer from the vet 3 times

I overdosed on pumpkin seeds. Well I ate the whole bag and it clogged my digestive system to the point it went into reverse and cleared out everything blocking the system. So my dosage is around a quarter bag. I still don’t know if they deworm me but I like them anyway so I will continue to eat them. I use ivermectin to actually deworm. LoL

You can try natural remidies for parasites if you have like 5 animals that you can monitor closely. But even then you are likely to get something at some point that actually works
