An inability to discuss past partners is an insecurity that I hope never finds me. I actively asked about my partners exes out of curiosity, and she did the same. I’m not going to pretend I didn’t date someone for nearly 4 yrs in the same way I don’t expect her to do that

I’ve been with my spouse for 17.5 years now. We hardly ever talk about that stuff now because it just doesn’t come up. But earlier in the relationship it definitely came up naturally quite often.

Jealousy is normal, struggling with hearing about past stuff is normal but you have to at some point find the way to do so. I don't know if that's gonna be leaving letters to each other of what you struggle with processing, you gotta face it eventually although it rubs you a certain way. I talk about crushes openly in my relationship and so do they 😅 I haven't felt threatened so far and I don't know if it's cause the crushes aren't insanely serious or just cause I'd always feel this safe. Either way, I'd still wanna know everything,even if it's impossible to process and vice versa

I’m aroace, so no, this isnt relevant. I do however write. My favorite character is the queen of talking about her exes, as she works closely with both. Her husband is the king of simps, so is fine with it, as he “won”. He also low-key saved both of their lives for reasons, so he really can’t complain. Here’s the only pic I have of them atm.

so true! one of my boyfriend's exes is a mutual friend of ours. his other ex is an absolute nightmarish asshole and we talk about that too bc that's important. most of my past relationships ended in good terms & i still like and respect my exes, i am friends with some of them & that's fine by him. i have a few more exes who it didn't work out with, i also tell him about them. we gossip about our exes' lives all the time. we love to know the tea about our past partners. it's fun. people are just insecure unfortunately

It’s so weird when people refuse to talk about their past. To me, that’s a red flag. Me and my husband talked and can still talk about each other’s exes with zero issues. If he refused to talk about his past I’d probably think he’s hiding something. Like, grow up. We all have a past.

We’ve discussed what went well, what didn’t, what we learned, etc etc… we always have, but I feel like especially with our wedding coming up there’s been a lot of reflections on those relationships too!

rarely talk abt my exes bcs none of those relationships ended/went well, but it is still important to talk abt at least once so you can be like “hey xyz happened to me, so if you do anything similar, i will freak out”
