Follett’s “Century” trilogy is excellent, especially the first two books.

Marion Zimmer Bradley, The Mists of Avalon (1983) and Herman Wouk The Winds of War (1971) I read both of these one summer when I was 13 (‘83). The 1st book was on sale at Costco and the 2nd was a tv miniseries at the time. They’re my favorites Along with Outlander when it 1st came out in ‘91.

Anything by Sharon Kay Penman. My fave is Here Be Dragons but honestly any of them. She's brilliant at bringing well known medieval characters like Richard the Lionheart to life

I’d add the Tudor novels by Phillipa George. Super detailed in the everyday life of medieval England, mixed with the intrigue of the royals and want-to-be royals.

I think both Emperor and Conqueror Series by Iggulden are both better than his Athens Series. You could add any of those. Gates of Fire is phenomenal!!

Between Two Fires is so bad. Dialog straight out of a comic book or a weak anime.
