@soggywafffle: Political not political post *For the record* yes ik about puberty blockers and I still find them completely unnecessary for a growing, developing person- Also: I really dgaf what someone at an appropriate age to be making life altering decisions does! :)
if I regret a tattoo I got at 17 I can't imagine being in a situation like this

as a trans person- yes! there is social transitioning your child can do like cutting their hair, changing clothes, changing names and pronouns to experiment. I'm excited to try hormones in a couple years in my 20s, once my brain has developed and I have time to really learn about the consequences. I wanted to go on hormones as a young teen, but it just means I have something to look forward to as I age and when my brain develops! that means I'm more likely to get the desired result, because I'll be really involved in the process:)

I kinda think everyone should wait until 21-24 when our brains are pretty much developed.. like I am 18 now and am a completely different person that my 14 year old self, I can’t imagine how my brain will develop in another 4 years 😭

So glad my mom told me ✨no✨. I am now an adult about to be 21 with a handsome fiance and a handsome toddler and my second son to be born in a few weeks. I couldn’t see my life any other way

As a transgender person, I 100% agree. I came out at 14 years old, I didnt know what I wanted then. My doctor asked if I wanted to go on hormones to transition and I said no because I was scared of needles even though I wanted to at the time. Over the next four years, my mind changed several times. At 18, I now know for sure that I want to medically transition. But at 14 when I was asked, I didnt actually know what I wanted. I think its very important to wait until you are an adult to make that decision

Maybe instead of taking the choice away we just improve the resources to support young people so they can make more informed decisions.

less than 1% of trans people detransition and of the 1% the vast majority do because of society pressure and familial alienation

my mom has told my brother and I if we feel wrong in our bodies or want tattoos or piercings that she wants us to wait till we are out of high school to make the decision on what we want

I was on birth control WAY to early and have zero idea how bad its actually affected me. I couldn't imagine being put on something that intense so young

I like seeing this perspective. it opens conversation for the younger generation to see and give more thought into what they want vs what they see

Honestly js normalize seeking education on a subject because introducing yourself to it. It’s the same concept as reading the syllabus for a class you’re about to take. Some kids may understand exactly what they’ll be getting themselves into and still want it, some may be unsure and that’s exactly why we need to normalize educating ourselves

I came out at 15 and tried to go on hormones at 16. I was extremely depressed. My dad wouldn’t consent to it so i wasn’t able to start. Im now 20 years old and honestly kind of glad I had to wait. Yes im still trans but i had 5 years to be out socially and experience it and make sure it was something i was so sure about. I still have a lingering grudge towards my dad for it (for personal reasons) but i’m still glad i had to wait.

To agree to this isn’t a conservative opinion either bc I wholeheartedly agree and I’m a left socialist.

Exactly what I am going through right now. Had to book vocal feminization surgery just because I was on hormones for 7 months.

idk, being denied hormones/blockers from a young age basically ruined my life 🤷 I understand not giving hormones but puberty blockers should be available
