@leahshomestead: This was a complete waste of time. One of the biggest rabbit “hacks” I kept hearing about was putting buckets and totes under the cages to catch all the poop and urine. The idea sounded great. No scraping. No crawling under cages. Just dump the buckets and you’re done. Except that’s not what happened. The grow-out rabbits kept knocking the buckets over. Somehow they managed to get inside them. They still pooped on the ground around them anyway. And then I had to spend time dumping, spraying, scrubbing, and putting all the buckets back. In the end, it took way longer than simply grabbing a scraper and cleaning underneath the cages like I was doing before. Sometimes the “easier” way isn’t actually easier. This one looked good on paper, but for our setup it was a complete fail. 😂🐰 What’s a homestead hack that ended up creating more work than it saved? #RabbitRaising #HomesteadLife #HomesteadFail
someone on YouTube made the perfect poop catch system and it separates the urine 🤌🏼 They also made a video for a watering line with the water nipples! I'll be back and I'ma go find it!

Can always create frame below the rabbit cages and use trays that way there out of the rabbits on the floor and you can pull out the trays and clean them

Dig a trench under there and dont put shavings in there.... Easy to shovel out... Trench should be 6" deep and the width of the cages..

Maby fence that area off and use trays instead of buckets so you can pull them out quicker and easier

Buy some isopods maybe? When I had rabbits there was always isopods under the cage eating the poo.

Make 1 big box out of plywood with wheels so you can roll in and out underneath. Line boxes with tarps that you can just pull out and dump.

why use a deep bucket when you can use a cafeteria baking sheet to do the same job and only clean them once a week.

Painted pieces of plywood a couple of inches below the cages that slide out. I think that would be a simple fix for what you are wanting, much lov

I used to raise rabbits in high school and my dad built a little trough kind of like a file folder with a little flat middle that leaned down to one end so everything would travel down to one end. You could just use one bucket at the end to catch what travels down. The trough was made from a flexible plastic and we hooked it onto the hanging cages so we could take it off and clean it as needed.

if you added a shelf under the lower cages, could you use the trays like with the top row? genuine question.

Some people build a conveyor belt under the cage and then turn it by hand and the poop falls outside of the building into a trough.
