As somebody who has stayed at the same job for now 16 years...let me tell people, job hop!! Do not stay and wait on raises. Go where the money is good every. single. time.

Split the IRA contributions between IRA and a brokerage account that's invested in good mutual funds. You'll have the same amount of money, but the brokerage funds will be available without early withdrawal penalties, which means you can look at retirement at around age 55.

You can’t touch it until 59.5. They still need diversification and money they can get to earlier if they want to retire. Either way, saving anywhere is better than nothing at all so moral is you are correct. Thanks for sharing this with the younger gen 🫶

They don’t teach this in school because everyone would retire early and not be dependent on their income. We retire, they lose their labor force.

Even if $100 a month is all you can afford right now, START NOW, START EARLY!!! You’ll be very surprised how quickly your $$ can grow. And instead of having to work an extra 5 or 10 years because of debt, you’ll have a very nice little nest egg to get you to zero to enjoy retirement!!

No jobs appreciate their employees enough for them to stay at one job for that long. Raises are slim, you make more money job shopping than staying. New hires get paid more than loyal longterm employees

My dad maxed out all his retirement, then died the year after retirement. Now my mother lives with depression as they couldn’t enjoy it together. So now she’s well off but miserable. Having savings is important, but enjoying life while healthy probably more important
