@eastern.security: This is what home security used to look like! 🔐 Long before touchscreens, wireless keypads, and mobile apps, homeowners used key switches to arm and disarm their alarm system. Because these systems demanded a dedicated, hardwired connection running to every single sensor, installations were incredibly expensive— making them a luxury typically found only in the wealthiest neighborhoods. While this tech has been largely abandoned today due to the risk of keys being lost, stolen, or copied, it is 100% unhackable otherwise and practically indestructible. #HomeSecurity #FunFacts #History #HistoryTok #OldTechnology

Our house is still wired for a vintage Ademco alarm system my dad had installed in the early 80’s. It’s very similar to this.

I didn’t know dictograph made security systems. I’ve only ever seen and worked on their fire systems.

Can be used on most any alarm system. It is just a key switch as one of the zones. Then you program the zone type as "Keyswitch" Nothing special or unique here.

That’s crazy. We have that lock at my house and then on the side of the house we have a strobe light above the garage. It’s like a red strobe light, which I assume is something to do with if it were to be activated?

Is there any merit to trying to fix an old system? Just bought a house with an early 90s FBI system in it, but it's nonfunctional
