It’s like Frankenstein, Hollywood made them horror stories, and pretty good horror stories. The books themselves are a lot deeper than the ‘fear’ factor.

My thesis was about this! I used different gothic novels but basically, I explored how authors used madness and horror as a mere tool to express their repressed emotions and fears of the unknown in a society that was ruled by the highest moral standards. I love Victorian literature for this reason. Everything represents something else!

I think that Stoker generally put more than just a story into his works. He was able to connect a terrifying legend and the cruel reality of society. I really love his Dracula 🦇

I read it two years ago in school and I hated it. Then I found out I had read an abridged version and the teacher didn’t bother to tell us, so I reread it (normal version) and it’s one of my favs 💘💘
