Ned and Catelyn didn't prepare her for the 'Real world'. And they certainly didn't prepare her for changing political circumstances. Margaery on the other hand...But it's interesting that Sansa survived and she didn't.

The same goes with Tyrion. Many people hate on Sansa for not opening herself or trusting Tyrion but they easily forget that he was basically her family's enemy who was helping his family destroy hers. She had no obligation to open herself or trust him whatsoever and honestly i wouldn't either

Sansa’s internal monologue is SO critical to understanding her character and it’s something we lost in the TV series (by nature of a non-narrated series, NOT Sophie Turner’s fault at all!!). I would LOVE to hear your take on the growth of her thought processes in the books!!!

anytime people say that Med and Catlynn didnt prepare Sansa for the real world it really pisses me off. they didnt plan on her leaving winterfell to go to Kings Landing, they didnt plan on her being a hostage, they wanted her to marry into another noble Northern house and have lots of babies.

While she was being mistreated, she was still around nobility, leaving with The Hound, where his she going to go? She wasn’t made for loving rough and travelling with lowborn folk like Arya did. Both girls admit they couldn’t have lived the other’s life. Winterfell wasn’t safe, and she wouldn’t have tolerated the journey anyway. Even as naive as she was, she knew what “better the devil you know” means. At this point she also still has the chance to be Queen and maybe even assumes that would give her some protection, that Joffrey might start to treat her better once they’re married.

I still think Sansa couldn't have survived through the country with the hound. The hound could protect her but that won't be enough. She's too soft for a one man guard.
