anne with an e wasn’t similar to anne of green gables but it was an incredible recreation and brought to light so many important topics people should know and learn from, i will never get over it getting cancelled

I can never stress enough how beautifully produced AWAE is and can never recommend it enough. It was never intended to be a direct copy of the book series, but rather, a modern adaptation with its own twists here and there while maintaining the basics of the storyline. The point of this show was to showcase the real world political and social issues faced during the 19th-20th centuries which weren’t necessarily addressed in the books in depth. They took the Anne of Green Gables series and turned it into something so deep with such compelling additional characters and storytelling. AWAE is such a special gem in media and I wish it had never gotten cancelled!! Sighhh, it’s truly one of those comfort series you can enjoy rewatching many a time and never tire of.

anne as a character really annoyed me sometimes but also she was the perfect example of exploring topics that arent usually explored so deeply and so well in writing. if theyd written it any other way I dont think it'd be as good :')
