@sarabareilles: “Home" is out now. It was inspired by a vulnerable and honest conversation about grief between @Anderson Cooper and Stephen Colbert that really resonated with me. Hearing their stories of loss, I started feeling more courageous to tell mine. "Tell me your story, I'll tell you mine." For me, this encapsulates the message of this record - sharing the thing that's the most true, and through that building threads of connection between you and the people around you. It's why we're all here.

My dad died at 37…my Mom died at 57. My next birthday, I’ll be 47….right in the middle. So much of my life has been spent grieving. Trying to LIVE now, and pray I’ll be here for way longer than my parents were able to be.

My father passed away when I was 12. He was only 37, and my mom became a widow at 36. As a child, I was focused on my own loss and never truly understood the weight she carried. In one day, she became both mom and dad to an eight-year-old and a 12-year-old. For years, I also carried guilt because I was the one who called 911, and the last thing my dad said to me was, “Take the garbage out.” Growing up in the ‘70s, grief and emotions weren’t openly discussed, so we simply carried on. Now, as the mother of two adult sons, I have a much deeper appreciation for my mom’s strength and resilience. I hope I’ve given my children the freedom to talk about their feelings in ways we never could. This beautiful song reminds us that sharing our grief doesn’t diminish our loss—it helps us heal, grow, and move forward. Thank you, Sara, for sharing it with us.

I am officially older than my mom was when she passed. She was 52. I turn 53 this year. It is hard to process that!

@Anderson Cooper is a genuine soul. To see celebrities and someone who has reported on some of the worst events show emotion like he did really shows a venerable side. It connects and reminds us all that we are all human beings trying to make it through this wild ride. Anderson keep being a bright light and voice for so many. 🙌🏼✨

Sara… lost my mom (she was 61, I was 32) the same week I found out I was pregnant with my one and only child… I’m both looking forward to and terrified of your album coming out. I know it’ll be cathartic but I also don’t know how I’ll get through it.
