@fraya.falke: I sometimes wonder if one of the reasons people feel so powerless is because we’ve become obsessed with big solutions. Meanwhile, we overlook the fact that almost every system in history has ultimately been held together by the participation of ordinary people. Not because they agreed with everything. But because they couldn’t imagine any alternative. I’m not saying a guerrilla garden is going to change the world. Or that a skill swap is some grand act of revolution. What interests me is that they remind us we have more agency than we’ve been taught to believe. That there are still things we can build, share, grow, repair and create without waiting for permission. And and that’s exactly where sovereignty begins. Not in some distant future where all the conditions are finally perfect. But in the small decisions that slowly make us less dependent and more connected. #gardening #community #foraging #skilldevelopment
Great thoughts. You don’t even need guerrilla gardening when you learn about your local environment, the seasons, and the woods around you. Most people nowadays are too lazy to search for and remember the fruits, nuts, herbs, and mushrooms that Mother Nature provides. Learn about your surroundings step by step.

This should be an app! Connecting people to their communities & exchanging and sharing information local to where they live, also lots and lots of classes needed (I signed up for 4 classes just this year!)

I was wondering if you had any advice…. I’ve come to an understanding of acceptance. But someone’s love is leaving me. And I want to give her all the right to make up her decisions, how do I convince myself that my love for someone could just be a learning point and nothing more if we just turn around and figuratively and metaphorically walk away from each other?

Self reliance is EVERYTHING. And one of my favorite things to recommend to people is to store knowledge locally, in your home. Books, journals, etc. 😊
