You’ve inspired me to journey to speak with this spirit myself. While I do use it, there are other effective herbs such as Peppermint, pine needles, bay, mullein, rosemary, mugwort to name a few. Almost everywhere has a sage equivalent, a tell tale is milky, furry leaves with a silver sheen Such as great mullein in the NW and sage brush in the desert. Pine needles are great for an equivalent, they’re free and grow practically everywhere.

One of my favorite magick books is Spiritual Cleansing by Draja Mickaharic. It’s an older book. Interestingly to me the only mention of sage in the book is as a tea. He does recommend frankincense, myrrh and dragon’s blood for purifying fumigation, and those have been used in so many cultures now no one could ever claim them exclusively. And I think they smell and work better.

The white Sage thing is just a recent race hustling tool. There’s nothing to it. No one has a right to White Sage, and no one has any right to tell someone they cannot have or use white sage. Race Bader’s score again.

My go-to are rosemary, juniper, mugwort, or vervain for my smoke cleansing. Depending on what I'm using it for. I work with these traditional herbs because my European Ancestors worked with them and used them during ceremonial rituals, cleansing, and medicine. With that being said, I find growing your own herbs will give the best energetic benefits and results.
