I’ve felt this so deeply, but I have also learned that fear of not being enough is a thief. It steals from the present by making you negotiate with the past. It convinces you that if you had been wiser, softer, stronger, more attractive, more patient, more something, the story would have ended differently. So you replay conversations. Revisit memories. Rewrite endings. Not because you’re searching for the truth, but because you’re searching for the version of yourself that would have finally been enough. But there is no such version. Because the wound was never born from your insufficiency. It was born the moment you believed that someone else’s inability to stay, receive love, or see their own worth was somehow proof that you lacked yours. And that’s the tragedy of this fear: it asks good people to spend years proving a case that was never brought against them. It’s heartbreaking 💔
